HIFA Splashes on Scholarship in Anambra State
In a heartwarming display of philanthropy, HIFA (Help For All) Austria, a Non-Governmental Organization, has paid the tuition fees of 81 indigent students in Anambra State.
The scholarship awards ceremony, which took place on Saturday, 1st February 2025, at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka, brought together students, parents, and dignitaries from across the state.
Rev. Fr. Levi Ukor, Chairman of the HIFA Board in Anambra State, thanked HIFA Austria for their continuous aid to the less privileged. He noted that HIFA has been consistent with this scholarship for the past 25 years. (Note: The HIFA Sponsorship Program started in 1971.)
The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most. Rev. Paulinus C. Ezeokafor, who was represented by the Education Secretary of Awka Diocese, Rev. Fr. Maximus Okonkwo, thanked HIFA for their support and shared the story of one of his classmates who was a beneficiary of the HIFA Sponsorship Program and is now a Catholic priest working in the United States of America.
He also emphasized the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering future generations.
The students promised to make HIFA proud by working hard and achieving academic excellence.
A father expressed his gratitude to HIFA, saying:
“If not for HIFA, I wonder what would have become of my children’s education.”
The scholarship awards ceremony highlighted the impact that HIFA has on the future of young people and communities.
