 Slum Project in Okpoko/Anambra State

Dr. Joyce Ezeugo, a physician and a nun, is the project leader of this project. She herself grew up in the slum area of Okpoko.

The prevailing health problems, in addition to infectious diseases and parasites, are primarily diabetes and high blood pressure.

Many families have 9 or more children, whom they cannot provide for.

Dr. Ezeugo trains multiplicators who advise the population on hygiene, nutrition, women’s health, and natural birth control. In this work, we collaborate closely with Dr. Hengstberger from the “Aktion Regen” (Campaign Rain) organization, who has developed helpful tools that are used in the slums.

Several times a year, there is free medical care in various villages in the slum area for those families who cannot afford medical care. There is also given food to families in need.
