WAKISO – a vocational training center in Entebbe / Uganda
“In a clockwork, there are big and small gears. Some run fast, others run slowly. But take just one out, and the clock stops.”
That is Johann Schill’s understanding, and that is how he sees project work.
He is a member of the board of directors and a lecturer for vocational projects.
For him, every contribution is important for the big picture, and everyone brings what is possible for him or her.
At the end of 2020, the vocational training center WAKISO requested support for the expansion of its workshops, with the goal of enabling course participants to run their own businesses.
From the end of December 2021 to the end of January 2022, Johann Schill stayed in Uganda near Lake Victoria. On this occasion, he was able to hand over the equivalent of 3,500 € to the vocational training center WAKISO in Entebbe, under the direction of Director Paul Nzimuli. With this money, equipment and tools were purchased, such as welding machines, drilling machines, angle grinders, welding helmets, protective helmets, vises, heavy-duty gloves, metal hacksaws, sewing machines, digital multimeters, electric soldering irons, carts for hairdresser accessories, circular saws, compressors for painting work, gas stoves for the teaching kitchen, and much more.
Johann Schill checked the purchases for their usefulness and quality.
There were also discussions about an agricultural project. Dipl. Ing. Festus Imarhiagbe, project lecturer for agriculture at HIFA, held empowerment workshops and workshops for for team building in February 2022 and is examining further cooperation.
