Vocational Training Center Ikot Ekpene/Awka Ibom State
Vocational training creates a livelihood! The carpentry and vocational training center in Ikot-Ekpene needs a powerful generator for the new machines.
The carpentry and training workshop in Ikot-Ekpene requires a powerful generator for the new machines.
We are planning a “train the trainer” program for this vocational training project in Ikot Ekpene like the one in Calabar/Cross River State.
Local teachers are to be trained to familiarize young people with manufacturing processes and methods so that they can earn a sufficient income on the open market.
The teachers must be accompanied by further education in existing facilities and training on the new machines.
What has happened so far?
The vocational training center in Ikot Ekpene, which was built by HIFA in the 1980s, has received a much-needed transport vehicle for transporting wood and materials and delivering finished furniture (see photo in the middle).
At the time of construction, three buildings were erected and an existing workshop building was adapted. The workshop, originally designed for about 20 apprentices, soon housed 65 apprentices and became too small. The much too low roof of the old workshop was removed and support pillars were built at the required height. Meanwhile, the new workshop building has been completed. Thanks to a significant sum donated by a donor, the construction of the workshop was successfully completed.
Rev. Fr. Joseph Etim, former responsible person for the vocational training center in Ikot Ekpene, has provided the center with used but very good machines, which he organized from Rome.
Thank you very much to all donors!!
