What remains when we leave?

Not what we own.
But what we pass on.

Many people wish to leave something meaningful behind beyond their own lifetime. With a testamentary donation to HIFA, you can do exactly that – quietly, powerfully, and sustainably.

Today, 14 children in Uganda go to school – because of her.”

Why people take this step

There are many reasons for a testamentary donation – here are the most common:

💛

Leave meaningfully

I want my life’s work to make a difference beyond my own lifetime.

👨‍👩‍👧

My loved ones are taken care of – a portion can make a bigger impact.

🌍

Let life continue

Remain in the hearts of those you have helped.

🤝

Continue the connection

I know HIFA’s work – and I want it to continue.

How you can donate

There are various forms of testamentary donation – all have one thing in common: you decide.

01

Appointment as heir

HIFA is appointed as heir to a portion of your estate – the most impactful form.

→ Ideal if you have no close heirs or wish to appoint HIFA as an equal beneficiary.

02

Bequest / Legacy

You leave HIFA a fixed amount or asset value – without affecting your family’s succession.

→ Ideal if your family remains the primary heir, but you additionally want to do good.

03

Division order

You specify how your estate is to be divided – HIFA receives a clearly defined share.

→ Ideal if you have multiple beneficiaries and want clear allocations.

04

Wreath & occasion donations

Instead of flowers at funerals, birthdays or weddings – a donation for people in need.

→ Upon request, we will issue a donation receipt.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change my will at any time?

Yes, absolutely. As long as you are legally competent, you can change, amend, or completely revoke your will at any time. A testamentary donation is not an irrevocable decision – you retain full control.

Do my relatives have to give up anything?

No. Through a legacy/bequest, you can remember HIFA without reducing your family’s statutory compulsory portions by even one cent. Your next of kin’s succession remains unaffected. We recommend consulting a notary – we are happy to help.

Is there a minimum amount?

No. There is no minimum amount. Whether €300 or a share of your assets – every contribution makes a difference. Small bequests fund school books, large ones enable new projects.

How will my legacy be used?

In your will, you can specify exactly what your legacy should be used for – e.g., for the children’s home in Bugiri or general project work. HIFA commits to respecting your wish and reporting transparently on it.

Who knows about my testamentary donation?

No one except you – and whoever you choose to involve. All conversations about testamentary donations are treated with absolute confidentiality. No lists, no publicity without your consent.

What about wreath or occasion donations?

We greatly appreciate wreath donations at funerals or donations in lieu of birthday and wedding gifts. Upon request, we will issue a donation receipt.
