Sometimes a person falls through every safety net.
Not because they don’t fight – but because a single unlucky event
is enough to make everything tip over.
HIFA helps in such moments subsidiarily:
where there really is no other option.
What “subsidiary aid” means: HIFA steps in when other responsible bodies,
funds or institutions cannot help, are not responsible or simply come too late.
We do not replace a state system – we fill the gaps it leaves.
The help is always personal, direct and without a long application process.

A real cry for help – that reached us
A single mother, a caretaker, was just barely keeping her head above water on a minimal income.
Then a water damage occurred – and with it a chain reaction that brought everything crashing down.
„Dear Ulrike! I am ashamed because I am not strong at all
and cannot cope with this situation.
First the extractor hood broke, later the stove and the freezer,
then the washing machine and with it the whole floor.
All summer we were without a freezer.
I still have no kitchen because I cannot buy one.
In the bathroom there is a small gas cooker, which is what I currently cook on.
For 3 months I have been sleeping on the floor.
I no longer know what to do, and I am at the end of my strength…”
What happened afterwards: Ulrike visited Mrs E. in person.
