Not what we own.
But what we pass on.
Many people wish to leave behind something meaningful beyond their own life. With a legacy gift to HIFA, you can do exactly that – quietly, powerfully and sustainably.

Why people take this step
There are many reasons for a legacy gift – here are the most common:
💛
Leave something meaningful
I want my life’s work to have an effect beyond me.
👨👩👧
Family is provided for
My loved ones are secure – a part can move something greater.
🌍
Let life continue to work
Remain in the hearts of the people you have helped.
🤝
Continue the connection
I know HIFA’s work – and want it to continue.

How you can give
There are various forms of a legacy gift – they all share one thing: you decide.
Institution as heir
HIFA is appointed as heir to a share of your estate – the most effective form.
→ Ideal if you have no close legal heirs or want to include HIFA on an equal footing.
Legacy (specific bequest)
You leave HIFA a fixed amount or asset – without affecting your family’s line of inheritance.
→ Ideal if your family remains the main heir, but you also want to do good.
Distribution order
You determine how your estate is divided – HIFA receives a clearly defined share.
→ Ideal if you have several beneficiaries and want clear allocations.
Wreath & occasion donations
Instead of flowers at funerals, birthdays or weddings – a donation for people who need help.
→ We will issue a donation receipt upon request.

Frequently asked questions
Can I change my will at any time? +
Yes, absolutely. As long as you have legal capacity, you can change, supplement or completely revoke your will at any time. A legacy gift is not an irrevocable decision – you retain full control.
Do my relatives have to give up anything? +
No. Through a specific bequest, you can include HIFA without diminishing the statutory compulsory shares of your family by even one cent. Your next of kin’s line of inheritance remains unaffected. We recommend a conversation with a notary – we are happy to help.
Is there a minimum amount? +
No. There is no minimum amount. Whether 300 euros or a share of your assets – every contribution makes a difference. Small bequests finance school books, large ones enable new projects.
How will my legacy be used? +
In your will, you can specify exactly what your legacy should be used for – e.g., the children’s home in Bugiri or general project work. HIFA commits to respecting your wish and reporting on it transparently.
Who knows about my legacy gift? +
No one but you – and whomever you choose to tell. All conversations about legacy gifts are treated with absolute confidentiality. No lists, no publicity without your consent.
What about wreath or occasion donations? +
We greatly appreciate wreath donations at funerals or donations in lieu of birthday and wedding gifts. Upon request, we will issue a donation receipt.
